City of Ballarat – FOGO Rollout
A creative collaboration to help introduce change.
A six part series including a 30 second TVC to support the rollout of the City of Ballarat's FOGO (Food Organics and Garden Organics) service and also its purple bin glass collection for residents. The new FOGO system enables residents to place kitchen food scraps with their garden cuttings in the household green wheelie bin for collection. The campaign needed to both promote participation and educate householders on best practices and issues such as contamination with soft plastics.

Working with the client we mapped out a series of six clips covering different aspects of the FOGO and glass collection initiatives while still having enough overlap to stand alone as individual videos.
The client team had come up with the central concept of 'It all starts with you' – a reminder that individual actions can help or harm the system and therefore the collective good. They also suggested that the clip run backwards to show the connection back to the household from waste processing down the line. We ran with the idea for the TVC, modifying it with both forward and backward sequences. The project is a good example of collaboration to develop concepts.
